Geir has been an eager fisherman all his life, mostly fishing for saltwater spices and pike in his youth living in Horten south east in Norway. Later he moved to Bergen at the west coast in Norway studying Biology at the university, where he started with flyfishing for seatrout and salmon over 25 years ago.

Geir became fascinated by spey casting with long belly lines and it was a natural step to start using Daiwa and CND rods in 2005, both made by Nobuo Nodera. He has since only used CND rods for his salmon fishing and started helping Nobuo with the development of competition rods and fishing rods in 2013. This cooperation has helped him breaking world records in spey casting five times and gave him the world champion title in 18’ spey casting in 2018. He is now (2022) the current world record holder for longest spey cast with both 15’ an 18’ rods.
